The Premier of Queensland, the Honourable Anna Bligh MP, hosts a special tourism leaders function at Beach Almond Restaurant, Palm Cove.
On a beautiful Tropical North Queensland night, Beach Almond Restaurant hosted a tourism leaders dinner function with the Premier of Queensland Anna Bligh and the new Minister for Tourism Jan Jarrett.
Local state member, Mr Steve Wettenhall and representatives from Tourism Queensland selected the Beach Almond for its innovative menu and classic tropical style which really represent the essence of Palm Cove.
During the after dinner speech, The Premier Anna Bligh introduced Brian and Sarah Holding to the guests saying, “we have had a wonderful night you have been great host and the food was absolutely brilliant.
The Beach Almond restaurant and your hospitality are wonderful examples of the best that Tropical North Queensland has to offer visitors.“
The Premier went onto address her guests discussing upcoming campaigns to support the tourism industry and to reassure the industry that all efforts are being made to recover from ongoing effects of GFC, industry down turn and the impact of recent weather events. She also announced successful grant applications for priority tourism infrastructure projects across the region.
Later, Sarah Holding said “it was a great honour and privilege to showcase our special venue and its wonderful food for the Premier, Anna Bligh at Beach Almond. What makes it especially pleasing, is that Palm Cove was chosen for this special function and that a small business was given the opportunity to host the Premier and other distinguished guests. We regard this as “prestigious recognition” – a huge feather in Beach Almond’s cap”.
The premier looked very comfortable and relaxed as she moved from table to table discussing issues with invited guests.
